Ok guys, this is some super simple information on what links are and what they mean in the world of internet marketing. Please watch the video and make comments. Even if you are an advanced link pro, it would be nice for you to leave comments to help further clarify for others. We need to help all we can.
If you are a beginner to link building and understanding links, please leave your questions below; I really want you to understand this concept.
Remember guys, links can be simplified this way:
GOOD: any link, from any site, with any anchor (like Click Here)
BETTER: link with your specific keyword anchored (like Goose Beer)
There are many more facets to the structure and makeup of a “link” and this is just meant to be a start or foundation.
Here is an example of a “BETTER” link:
If you would like information on how to earn passive income online, go visit my friend Lissie.
Did you catch that? See how that works?
If you want to know how to get links, you may want to stay tuned and watch the upcoming videos. Keep in mind that what I pass along is really just what I have learned from others. The only difference is that I tend to illustrate things in a way that others may not. That’s it.
This info is nothing new. I am no genius. I just work hard… and you should too!
Finally, I want to take a moment to let you guys know just how fortunate I have been over the last couple of years. I have not been scammed or duped into spending thousands of dollars on some stupid “system” for making money online. For some reason only known to God, I was directed straight to some honest people who gave away great info on internet marketing for free. In addition, I was smart enough and dedicated enough to put their advice into action, and now I make healthy money each and every month.
The great folks who have helped me are:
Courtney Tuttle, Internet Marketing. Check out his brutally honest article “Making Money On The Internet”
Griz, Make Money Online for Beginners and Basic Adsense Tips (a MUST read)
Vic at Blogger Unleashed and The Affiliate Academy (I love this guy)
BTW–the links above are pretty good. Here’s why: First off, I did my best to use the right keyword for the site or post. Look at the link to Court’s site as an example. You see I did not link his name, but rather the term “internet marketing.” That is the key word that his site wants to rank for. Thus, it is a good link, (you should remember this when you link to your buddies too)
In addition, this site (blogger illustrated) is about blogging and internet marketing, so that makes the link even better. Unfortunately, this site does not have a lot of authority right now. But these are still really really good links. In fact, they are great links… you are very welcome Court, Griz and Vic… LOL
Remember you guys: Build sites, Add Content, Get Links: that’s it! YOU CAN DO IT!

LMAO re the beer – at least its not Budwiser! I too was lucky to avoid the scammer selling the “secretes of getting a top google ranking” ebook for $997! There is no bloody secret – nice analogy re the new guy in room – so many people think backlinks are difficult – they are so not!
I think the problem with backlinks is that there is no instant gratification – they don’t show up tomorrow and neither does the traffic – this tends to upset people and they give up – probably just before they were going to hit page in the SERPS!
It really isn’t that hard but between the people who don’t even know they are in business (don’t laugh I was one), the ones who think ranking in the search engines is a waste of time and the ones who believe they can make $20k while they sleep – there is too much crap for most people to see their way thru it all.
I think I have rambled on enough including all the long-tails I can think of which relate to building backlinks to rank your site in the serps!

PS thanks for the link
Goose beer, huh? Is that a microbrew around your neck of the woods? I gotta say, just like your last vid mentions, the reason I want to do this internet marketing thing is for financial and personal freedom… so I can visit the country, try all the local brews, and still be able to work from my laptop, lol.
Anyway, good video – definitely basic but I feel a lot of people may get more from this than from sifting through a 2000 word article (even though they are great in terms of SEO and targeting multiple keywords!). Many people are better visual learners and need examples like that to really ‘get it’.
Keep up the good work – here’s to future success to all of us.
Hey Ray, thanks for leaving me a nice comment with some good keywords in it!
Goose Island is a local CHicago micro brew. Their newest is called “312″ after one of the Chicago area codes (downtown area)
if you ever make it to chicago, I’ll buy you one!

[...] Finally, when submitting arts with Article Marketer, be sure to get two links in the author box. Get one to your primary URL and another to a post (called a “deep link”). If you don’t know anything about anchored keywords, go to this article on What Are Links [...]
Allyn – so, where do you put those links without appearing spammy? Great vids!

Hey Kent,
if you mean where do you put them within your own sites to link out to others, then you do it in post naturally. If you mean “how do you get links” then just hang out here for a while and you’ll see. I did a vid on Article Marketer and have another coming out soon about link structure and such.
send me an email if you need anything!

Allyn, found a link to this post on SEOZombie. It’s the perfect analogy for anyone trying to understand the basics of link building strategies. Part of the big problem with the whole SEO scene is that far too many people are selling crappy ebooks and courses that promise to make newcomers a ’search engine magnet’!
At the end of the day, the only way to rank high in the SERPs is to get a mix of good backlinks – relevant or not – by building on a regular basis. Sure, it’s actually a pretty boring process but anyone that wants to make money online as an internet marketer has to realise that building any business, online or offline, does involve a degree of tedious repetition.
