Allyn, found a link to this post on SEOZombie. It's the perfect analogy for anyone trying to understand the basics of link building strategies. Part of the big problem with the whole SEO scene is that far too many people are selling crappy ebooks and courses that promise to make newcomers a 'search engine magnet'!

At the end of the day, the only way to rank high in the SERPs is to get a mix of good backlinks - relevant or not - by building on a regular basis. Sure, it's actually a pretty boring process but anyone that wants to make money online as an internet marketer has to realise that building any business, online or offline, does involve a degree of tedious repetition.
